Speak Your English!
Each one of us has our own communicative repertoire.
Our style as well as our choices of grammar and words in our first
language say a lot about our identity and conduct the interlocutor to our
internal world.
I personally consider writing a complete idea using fewer words something
extremely appealing, so writing short sentences is MY way of expressing my
being succinct and direct. I also like to use figurative language because it
allows the other person to enter the words with their minds and emotions – it
is not an imposition.
Unfortunately, many Learners do not learn how to speak their minds on
their own terms, building their own repertoire in the target language. More
often than not they are guided to accommodate someone else’s world (the
teacher’s) into theirs, due to the fact that most of them learn from
teacher-centered lessons.
In short, teaching a language should be about being able to read the
learner to the point that we become able to help them express their SELF in
another language.
